Homeward Secures $120M Series D to Expand Fast-Sale Programs Nationwide

Homeward announced a $120 million Series D financing round led by Saluda Grade, an alternative-investment firm that focuses on asset-backed credit. The round also attracted Continental General Insurance Co., Citi Ventures, Magnetar Capital, Norwest, LiveOak Ventures, Adams Street Partners, Javelin Venture Partners, Harmony Partners, Era Ventures and First American. In addition to the equity infusion, the company secured a $330 million asset-backed debt facility to fund additional home transactions. The combined capital is earmarked for expanding Homeward’s financing products and upgrading its technology platform.

Since its founding in 2018, Homeward has raised a total of $360 million in equity. The company declined to disclose the valuation attached to the latest round, noting that it is comparable to the valuation at its $136 million Series C raise in 2021, which was reported as just north of $800 million. The new funding follows a broader uptick in proptech investment this year, with global real-estate-related startups attracting about $12.7 billion across seed to growth stages so far in 2026.

Homeward’s model operates through real-estate agents rather than direct-to-consumer marketing. Its “Buy Before You Sell” program offers short-term financing that lets homeowners purchase a new property before their current home is sold, while also providing a guaranteed backup offer. The “Sell Before You List” product delivers a cash purchase and rapid closing, after which Homeward repairs the home and resells it on the open market, returning any profit to the original owner and charging a program fee. A third option, “Buy With Cash,” enables buyers to make cash-backed offers and later refinance into a conventional mortgage. To date, the company reports partnerships with more than 25,000 agents and facilitation of over $4 billion in real-estate transactions.

The firm’s growth accelerated after a strategic pivot in early 2023. Originally focused exclusively on enabling simultaneous buying and selling, Homeward broadened its services to include cash-offer sales as rising interest rates made traditional moves more costly for homeowners. Founder and CEO Tim Heyl said the pivot helped the company more than quadruple revenue since 2021, even as U.S. home sales fell roughly 30 percent. The cash-offer program now operates in all 48 contiguous states, and the company aims to make the “Buy Before You Sell” offering available nationwide by the end of the year.

Saluda Grade’s involvement marks its first investment in Homeward. Growth-equity fund lead John Stepp highlighted the company’s clear understanding of buyer, seller and agent pain points, as well as its proven financial performance and geographic expansion potential. He noted that the product set reduces friction in home transactions for consumers and provides agents with a valuable tool to differentiate their services. Homeward is also integrating artificial-intelligence tools to automate transaction processing and underwriting, a move intended to improve efficiency as the firm scales. The next test will be whether the expanded capital base and AI enhancements can sustain growth in a market where overall transaction volume remains subdued.
